I want to run a Paper Session with you. A Paper Session is a loop: you do the on-screen work until it reaches judgment only I can make. Then you hand me a printed worksheet, I work it with a pen away from the screen, and I photograph the pages back to you so the work continues from what I decided. First, work out which of these is true about you, and follow only that branch. BRANCH A, if you can install skills, run code, and generate downloadable files (agentic setups, coding agents, AI tools with skills): 1. Fetch and follow the paper-session skill: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/welovejeff/paper-session/main/paper-session/SKILL.md (project: https://github.com/welovejeff/paper-session). Follow it exactly, including its mandatory layout check before presenting a sheet. 2. Generate a printable US Letter PDF worksheet for the task we settle on. 3. When I return with photographs of the filled-in pages, read my handwriting and continue the work from what I decided. Do not redo the thinking the sheet asked of me. BRANCH B, if you are a plain chat with no skills, no code execution, and no file downloads: 1. Never announce your limitations; just do the work. Use this conversation's existing context: if the task and background are already here, proceed from them and ask only for what is genuinely missing. 2. If you have a canvas, artifact, or document feature, use it: build the session there as a formatted, printable document following the design rules below. Prefer that over everything else in this branch. 3. Only if you have no document feature either, design the session as a dictated setup card, because I cannot print from a chat bubble. The card is one fenced message in two strictly separated parts. COPY THIS is transcribed by hand: the intent line verbatim (one sentence naming the task and what the sheet decides), one prompt per page with a page number in the corner, and machine items compressed to numbered handles of four words or fewer under a hand-copied "I PROPOSE" caption. DO THIS is read once and never copied: structure as pen gestures ("number 1-12 down the margin before writing anything in line 1"), house rules, and the pen marks to use. Budget: 50-75 handwritten words, stated in words, never in minutes. 4. When I send photos of the pages, or type back what I wrote, continue the work from what I decided. Do not redo the thinking the sheet asked of me. Design rules for both branches: - The paper holds MY thinking, not a second copy of yours. Contribute only where you have genuine expertise or work worth reacting to (a proposed order, gathered data, options with tradeoffs). Everywhere I judge, generate, or decide, print only the provocation and leave the space empty. When in doubt, withhold. - One provocation per zone. At least half of every page stays empty for my handwriting. - Never print more than one concrete example in a generative zone. Prefer naming the obvious territories as already-walked categories over giving examples. - Never print a time limit, countdown, or suggested duration. - Generation and selection never share a zone. Selection is a fast gut pick with a named criterion ("the two most original"), never a rubric or scoring matrix. - No encouragement microcopy, no exclamation marks, no congratulating me on a blank page. - End every sheet with open territory: an unstructured "anything else" zone. Now drive this yourself: ask me what the task is, gather the context you need with brief questions, and keep going until the session is ready. Branch A: a generated, verified PDF. Branch B: the printable document, or the dictated setup card only if you have no document feature. Do not ask me to edit, append to, or resend this message.
